E-coating UK services at Pym and Wildsmith

Amongst the many different protective coating solutions that Pym and Wildsmith can provide, e-coat services remain one of the most popular choices. Sometimes known as electrophoretic coating, e-coating is a type of protective coating that specialises in providing corrosion resistance to surfaces. With a simple method of application alongside fast turnaround times, it is easy to see why e-coating remains a popular choice of protective coating. It can be used across a wide range of industries but is commonly used within the automotive sector.

Applying e-coat paint to parts

Using our fully equipped e-coat suite, the e-coat paint application has never been easier. Before the components are painted however, we put them through any necessary preliminary treatments to clean and prepare the surfaces for the paint. It is important to make sure that the surfaces do not have any residue from previous treatments as this could have an impact on the performance of the e-coat paint. Once the surfaces have been prepared, the parts are submerged into a tank of the paint before being cured through an oven.

E-coating thickness

The e-coating thickness is one of the most appealing advantages when it comes to e-coating solutions. Due to its method of application, components are almost guaranteed a uniform thickness of paint across the entire surface – including some of the places which could be tricky to reach such as bends and cavities. Having a consistent paint thickness throughout means that components and parts receive the optimum corrosion protection from the paint with an excess of 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance. If you wish to optimise the performance of the paint even further, you can do so as the paint is compatible with other coating technologies too.
