At Pym & Wildsmith, we have a great team of people, who are really passionate about delivering the best service for our customers. Today’s Q&A is with Mitch Severn, our Business Development manager.
What’s your role at Pym & Wildsmith?
My role at Pym and Wildsmith is Business development manager and I lead a team that consists of client managers, an estimator and the marketing department.
How long have you worked here?
I have been at Pym and Wildsmith for 5 months now and everyone here has made me feel very welcome. After spending the last 3 and a half years working within the prisons and 2 of those through Covid-19, it is a nice change of environment and I’m enjoying putting my transferable skills to good use.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
In my role at Pym and Wildsmith no 2 days are the same and that is what I look for in a career, I really enjoy the freedom that they have given me to run with my ideas and look at ways that I can develop the business and help us all to achieve our goals for the future.
How does it affect you, working for an Employee Owned company?
Working for an Employee Owned company is a very refreshing change from anything I have experienced in other places I have worked. It is great to see all employees taking ownership for the job they are doing and everyone at Pym and Wildsmith takes pride in their work due to all having a stake in the business.
What are the values that drive you?
Respect, passion, and creativity are the values that drive me. All members of the team should respect one another and take the time to listen and be open to new ideas and constructive criticism. Everyone should have a passion for whatever they decide to do with their career and do their very best to achieve what they want in life. Finally, is creativity and not to be afraid to do something different. Just because something has been done the same way for a long time does not mean that there is not a better way.
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I am not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and enjoy playing football at the weekends for my local Sunday league team. I love all sports and will try and go and watch live sport with family and friends whenever possible.
