Shot Blasting – What is it?

Shot blasting is a process that is undertaken in order to prepare a surface before it has any treatment or finishes applied to it. Using specific shot blasting equipment the surface is blasted with a controlled stream of abrasive shot material at a very high velocity. Shot blasting is an ideal pre-treatment to blast away scale or rust. Our own industrial shot blasting material also has the ability to remove previous paint or powder from the surface. Once the process has taken place, the surface will be clean and ready for paint or powder adhesion.

We can accommodate projects measuring up to 7 meters in length by 5 meters wide with our large manual shot blast booths which use a GH050 steel shot.

Fast Turnaround

We also have an automatic shot blast machine, which not only provides ease of application with full coverage but also creates a fast turnaround for your project too, this uses an S230 steel shot. We can achieve surface profiles of between 40-60 microns while any surface preparation grade between light blast cleaning to visually clean steel can be accommodated based on your project requirements.
