What is electrophoretic coating?

Electrophoretic coating, often known as e coat, is a type of protective coating that can be applied onto parts that need extra protection against corrosion. The e-coat painting system is a fairly simple process of application which makes it a desirable choice of coating for many different industries such as the automotive sector. As leading suppliers of e-coating services in the UK, we’ve got a fully equipped e-coating facilities that enable us to coat a wide range of projects. E-coating is suitable for plenty of different industrial applications, but one of the most popular sectors to use it is the automotive industry. Here at Pym and Wildsmith, with our state-of-the-art coating equipment, we can e-coat lots of different projects, including bikes and cars.

Applying the e-coat onto a component

We have a fully equipped suite of the latest state-of-the-art equipment here at Pym and Wildsmith and this allows us to complete e-coating in a fast, simple, yet effective way. First, before we begin any processes we make sure that the surface we are about to coat is thoroughly cleaned and prepared – this will ensure the component will get the best performance from the paint. We will put the components through any necessary preliminary treatments so that any previous treatments or residue has completely gone from the surface. Once this has been done, we place the component – depending on its size – onto a track before being plunged into a tank of various washes and pre-treatment before the e-coat paint. This method means that your parts will have optimum coverage including all the hard-to-reach areas such as bends and cavities. The parts are then taken out of the tank and cured through the oven.

Benefits of e-coating UK

E-coating UK is a simple and cost-effective coating solution that provides many advantages to surfaces. The paint gives 100% coverage and maintains a uniform coating thickness across the entire surface. Its corrosion resistance is highly effective and it provides in excess of 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance, with a pre-treatment. E coating can also be used alongside other coating technologies too, pushing the performance of the paint even further.
